Timber buildings with distinctive features

Two houses on Farna Street show different aspects of traditional timber construction. The house at number 14 dates from the late 18th century. Its passage gate, built using a post-and-beam structure, is particularly noteworthy. This construction method uses vertical load-bearing posts; the gate therefore highlights a structural detail of the house that is of interest beyond its age.

The house at 20 Farna Street is an old log house with dovetail corner joints. In this type of joint, the ends of the logs interlock at the corners.
