Geographical location

Orgovány is located on the sand ridge of the Duna–Tisza Interfluve and the Kiskunság Sand Ridge in the Great Hungarian Plain, southwest of Kecskemét.

History

Archaeological remains from the 1st and 2nd centuries AD are known from Orgovány. The settlement arose during the Árpádian age and was later associated with the Cumanian settlement during the reign of Béla IV. This historical connection is suitable for an interest in specific settlement history.

Transport

Passenger services on the former MÁV railway line 148 through Orgovány were suspended with the timetable change on 13 December 2009.
