Nature and Trails
Naunhof is located in the Parthenaue and is surrounded by the largest contiguous woodland area in southeast Leipzig. As part of the Leipzig New Lakeland, the town is surrounded by bathing lakes, forests and cycle paths. An extensive cycle-path network connects Naunhof with the woodland and lake district as well as the neighbouring towns. The 60-kilometre Parthe-Mulde Cycle Route from Leipzig to Grimma also runs through Naunhof.
At Lake Albrechtshain, there is a treetop climbing park with eleven courses and more than 100 climbing elements, as well as a campsite.
Culture and History
The Naunhof town walk takes approximately two hours and begins at the market square. It leads through the Stadtgut, where former industrial wastelands have been converted into new spaces, and includes a detour to the Tower Clock Museum, which focuses on timekeeping and the history of clocks. The route also includes the Evangelical Lutheran town church; it then continues to the Altes KranWerk, which is described as a relic of industrial culture.
The Tower Clock Museum displays restored mechanical tower clocks, a tower clock and carillon system, as well as master and slave clocks. A visit can be rounded off with original Naunhof potato cake at the museum café.
The town church has an organ built by Friedrich Ladegast and is described as a regional cultural centre with regular concerts. The Altes KranWerk provides space for craft workshops, musical events and festivals. The post mill in Fuchshain is described as 400 years old and still operational.
