History and Culture

Grenzau Castle has Germany’s only triangular keep. A clay pit was established near the Ellenhausen cemetery in 1913, providing employment for local residents. Today, the site of the former clay pit contains a lake used as a fishing pond and recreational area.

The wooden cross in Ellenhausen was erected by the municipality and blessed on 24 August 1856. After being renovated in 1980, it stands on Sayntalstraße at the exit from Ellenhausen towards Deesen and Sessenhausen.

Bus route 461 serves Ellenhausen on a route connecting Selters or Dierdorf with Ransbach-Baumbach.
