Dreifelden: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Dreifelden is located on the Dreifelder Weiher, the largest lake in the Westerwald Lake District. When searching for a holiday apartment to rent, the town comes into focus as a destination: the waterscape, protected wetlands and historic architecture shape the surrounding area.

Nature

The Dreifelder Weiher Nature Reserve protects bodies of water, shallow-water zones, marshland areas and adjacent wet meadows. The Dreifelder Weiherland is a gently undulating plateau at an elevation of 430 to 450 metres above sea level. Along a route by the Dreifelder Weiher, there are opportunities to observe waterfowl.

Culture and History

The central Protestant Trinity Church, a historic former pilgrimage church, stands in the town centre. Its origins date back to the early Romanesque period around the year 1000; its name, Trinity Church, gave the town its name. The church has a fortified tower with five embrasures and is described as one of the oldest churches in the Westerwald. Its first documented mention dates from 1319.

Hiking and Trails

The 7-Weiher Trail is divided into sections of approximately 13 kilometres and 17.5 kilometres. At selected points in the Westerwald Lake District, 16 information boards stand along the trail.

The Romantic Lake District route starts at the hikers’ car park by the cemetery in Dreifelden. After passing the Dreifelder Weiher, it reaches the Steinen-Dreifelden forest playground. In summer, swimming and pedal boating are possible at the Postweiher. The route also passes the Wölferlinger Weiher Nature Reserve and climbs the 463-metre-high Schwengersberg, which offers panoramic views.
