Döhmberg and Reinertsberg are identified as cinder cone volcanoes.
History and Culture
The Catholic Chapel of St Apollonia is described as a plastered rubble-stone building from the 18th century and was extended around 1895. Its features include a slate-roofed roof turret and small wooden figures of Saints Giles and Luke from the 18th century.
Early Roman settlement is documented by significant coin hoard finds. The name of the village is associated with a Roman tavern on the former Maas-Moselle Roman Road around AD 475. Around the year 1000, a settlement associated with Betilo was called “Villa Bettilonis”. A green saltire refers to Roman roads that crossed southwest of the Döhmberg.
The mountain chapel on the Mühlenberg stands at the boundary marker of Dockweiler, Dreis, and Betteldorf.

The oldest settlement area, “Auf dem Höff-chen”, is characterised by dense development and larger farm complexes that were formerly associated with agriculture. Betteldorf has a linear village structure that transitions into a clustered village in the centre.
