Nature

Beuren (Hochwald) is located in the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park and features extensive forests, fields, valleys, and natural and cultural monuments. The quartzite formations Prosterather Wacken, Hoher Stein, and Graue Eltz shape the local landscape. The area around Hohe Wurzel is described as a hiking area; Hohe Wurzel is 669 metres high.

The car park at Holzhackerkreuz provides a starting point for walks through the surrounding forests. The Holzhackerkreuz viewpoint on the heights near Beuren looks towards Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park and Erbeskopf. West of Beuren, at the L152/L148 intersection, there are two giant sequoias that are designated natural monuments and were planted in 1871.

Culture

The parish church of St. Paulinus was built between 1835 and 1837, predominantly in Neoclassical forms, based on plans by Trier city architect Johann Baptist Bingler. Parts of the Neoclassical interior furnishings have been preserved, including the pulpit and confessionals.

In the district of Prosterath, the Quereinhaus at Brunnenstraße 2 dates from around 1840. It represents a historic Moselle-Franconian building type in which living and agricultural areas are combined in a single long building.

Recreation and Trails

The Fischerhütte is an excursion restaurant offering food and drink beside a fishing pond in Beuren. Next to it, at Beuren's leisure centre, there is a freely accessible water-treading pool that provides a place to relax; dogs are not allowed in the pool.

Another route through the region is the Ruwer-Hochwald Cycle Path. The approximately 48-kilometre-long, family-friendly cycle route runs from Trier through the Ruwer Valley and Kell am See to Hermeskeil.
