Großbundenbach lies at an elevation of around 399 metres on the Sickinger Höhe at the southwestern edge of the plateau. The village is part of the Pfälzer Mühlenland tourism and hiking area and is surrounded by agricultural land and an almost continuous belt of orchards. The valley slopes around Großbundenbach are predominantly wooded, while valleys with running water are used as pastureland.

Display cases along the nature trail provide information about native animals, while information boards identify tree species. The Genoveva Spring is a stone-slab formation supported by two sandstone blocks, with a spring rising inside it.
Culture
The ruins of Bundenbach Castle are largely freely accessible. They stand on a high plateau spur between the Bundenbach Valley and the Hoftal Valley. The Protestant Church of St Martin preserves its surrounding wall from the time when it served as a fortified church. It combines a Romanesque choir tower dating from around 1200 with a Gothic nave dating from around 1320. The frescoes inside date from 1300 and were rediscovered and uncovered in 1908. The choir contains ornate epitaphs; a crypt beneath the altar holds the mortal remains of aristocratic families.
Village Life
Walnuts have long been used in Großbundenbach for cakes, pastries and walnut bread. Since 2008, the annual Walnut Festival has been held as part of this walnut tradition. Walnut oil and more than 20 walnut products are offered there for tasting and purchase. The festival also includes public demonstrations of beekeeping equipment and bees behind glass. A count carried out in 2008 recorded more than 120 walnut trees in Großbundenbach, including traditional farmyard trees, trees behind houses and trees distributed throughout the village area.
