Pirmasens has several museums and cultural institutions. These include the interactive Dynamikum Science Center with 160 experiment stations, the Forum Alte Post with presentations on Heinrich Bürkel and Hugo Ball as well as temporary exhibitions, the Museum in the Old Town Hall with the Wald.Schloss.Schuh collection and Elisabeth Emmler's silhouette-cut cabinet, as well as the Westwall Museum in the former Gerstfeldhöhe fortification in Niedersimten.

The former mortuary at the Old Cemetery now houses the Carolinensaal, where chamber concerts and lectures take place.
