The Brunnenburg ruins are located near Bremberg. They preserve parts of a former Premonstratensian collegiate church and monastery complex founded around 1200. Bremberg is documented in 1156 under the names Brunenbach and Brunincbach. The place name developed through Brunnenbach, Brumbach, Braunbach and Brambach before appearing as Bremberg around 1590. The former settlement of Bethenroth, which was located next to Bremberg around 1197, is also mentioned as a nearby historical reference.
