The HeimatSpur Kurschattensteig is a 7-kilometre circular hike through the Vulkaneifel around Bad Bertrich. It follows soft hiking trails and narrow sections with an almost alpine character.

Culture

The cultural heritage awaiting visitors includes the Electoral Palace, built in 1787 as the summer residence of Clemens Wenzeslaus, the last Elector of Trier. It stands in a blooming spa garden. The Hohenzollern Tower offers views over Bad Bertrich and the surrounding hills. It was built in 1896/97 as a memorial tower in connection with the 100th birthday of Emperor Wilhelm I.

The Allengarten is home to the protected tree of life, which was planted more than 350 years ago. Around 1903, Clara Viebig was inspired by it to write her novella The Tree of Life.
