Meerfeld: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

On the Move

Meerfeld offers guided hikes and mountain biking. The first stage of the VulkaMaar Trail runs from Manderscheid via Bettenfeld to Meerfeld, covers 12.2 kilometres in 5.5 hours, and ends at the Meerfelder Maar next to Meerfeld.

Nature

The Meerfelder Maar occupies only part of the largest maar crater in the Eifel. Meerfeld is situated on the steep southern slopes of the part of this largest maar crater that is not occupied by the lake.

Wet meadows, sedge stands and a broad southern reed zone around the Meerfelder Maar provide protected habitats for numerous animals. The Meerfelder Maar and its surroundings are designated as a nature reserve.

Water

Swimming in the Meerfelder Maar is permitted only in the marked area. There is a car park near the bathing area at the Meerfelder Maar. Fishing is possible at the Meerfelder Maar.
