Laufeld: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Nature and Trails

Laufeld’s landscape can be experienced along designated hiking trails. The Laufeld nature trail can also be reached via the Maare-Moselle Cycle Route. It is a circular trail approximately 1.3 kilometres long, with information boards about the forest ecosystem, and is described as a short, easy walk suitable for families and visitors interested in nature.

Culture and History

The St. Willibrord Church in Laufeld contains a statue of Our Lady of Luxembourg. The western tower of St. Willibrord dates from around 1500 and was originally a fortified tower with a loophole. The nave was built from 1858 to 1862 in neo-Romanesque forms.

The Laufeld Doll and Toy Museum displays dolls, dollhouses, toy shops, teddy bears, stuffed animals, as well as tin and wooden toys from the past 100 years. It also presents everyday objects, reconstructed living environments from the 1950s and from around 1900, as well as an Eifel bedroom.

Archaeological finds from Laufeld have contributed to knowledge of the Urnfield and Hallstatt cultures; archaeologists refer to this as the “Laufeld Culture.”

Region and Activities

Bernkastel-Wittlich combines the volcanic Eifel, the Moselle Valley and the forest- and meadow-rich Hunsrück. The region promotes swimming, cycling, hiking, water skiing, hang gliding and winter sports.
