Immert is located in the Hermeskeil Basin, a natural subunit of the Hunsrück Plateau, on a ridge at approximately 460 metres above sea level. The village is also a short distance from the Hunsrückhöhenstraße (B 327).
History and Culture
The earliest documented historical mention of Immert is connected with a document from 1112 in which the Thalfang Mark is mentioned; no older finds are recorded in the municipal area.
Immert has a legally documented natural monument: an oak in field 8, parcel 4. The designation was changed from two oaks to one oak.
Nature and Surroundings
Steinkopf, Erbeskopf and Kahlheid are located in the area surrounding Immert. The surrounding area also contains the SS Special Camp/Hinzert concentration camp memorial, Panzerschlag and Baldenau Castle. Further afield in the region are the ruins of Grimburg Castle and Frauenburg Castle.
