The Telescopium is a faithful reconstruction of what was once Europe’s largest observatory and includes Johann Hieronymus Schroeter’s 27-foot reflecting telescope. The visitor program provides an introduction to Lilienthal’s history of astronomy and to operating the historic large telescope. Depending on the conditions, visitors can observe lunar craters, Jupiter’s cloud bands, Saturn’s rings, or structures on the surface of the Sun.
