Uelsen: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture and History

The local history includes the Uelsen windmill, an Erd-Holland-type windmill with a tail pole and sail blades. It is a technical monument and was restored between 1956 and 2000.

The Evangelical Reformed Church is the oldest building in Uelsen. It combines a Romanesque lower tower with a Gothic nave and western portal.

The Old Town Hall is generally dated to 1649. It houses a small exhibition featuring prehistoric finds and a replica of the Golden Cup. Exhibitions and chamber concerts are also held there.

Nature and Trails

The “Around Uelsen” circular trail offers views from Bookesch towards the town centre and Uelser Holt. Uelser Holt is a particularly scenic section of the route, with gentle hills and sheltered rest areas.

The trail runs along very well-maintained paths through the town centre and the northern and southern outskirts of the municipality of Uelsen. Itterbecker Heide is one of the largest contiguous sandy heathland areas in southwestern Lower Saxony and is characterised by dunes and shrub moraines.

Water and Leisure

Waldbad Uelsen combines an indoor swimming pool and an outdoor pool in Uelsen’s holiday area. The indoor pool has a 75-metre-long winding slide and an area for small children. The mini-golf course in Uelsen, with several lanes, is located directly next to Waldbad.

The joint municipality of Uelsen is connected by federal, state and district roads as well as by the Fietsenbus, a bicycle bus.
