Friedberg’s Kaiserstraße is 700 metres long. Along its east and west sides stand more than 130 buildings in total, predominantly historic half-timbered buildings dating from the 15th to the 18th century. This means half-timbered architecture is not confined to a single house: the streetscape brings together buildings from several centuries. The old town is surrounded by well-preserved town walls and towers; one of the most prominent is Adolfsturm. It was built in the mid-14th century.
