Karst and Juniper in the Hie- and Kripplöcher
The karst area of the Hie- and Kripplöcher is shaped by larger and smaller sinkholes, some shallow and others deep. These varied landforms are part of its character. Regional History at the Berkatal Local History Museum
The Berkatal Local History Museum is on the upper floor of the municipal administration building at Berkastraße 54 and is open by telephone appointment. It focuses on life, housing and work in the region in earlier times, with a particular emphasis on regional mining history. The exhibition thus combines everyday history with a look at the work that shaped the region.
Exhibits include rocks and minerals with information about their uses, old miners’ lamps and mining equipment, as well as prehistoric finds from the Meißner foothills.
