Lake, Vineyards and Views
The Seinsheim scenic lake lies between the village and the vineyards of the Seinsheimer Hohenbühl wine-growing area. At the edge of the village, in the direction of the Weinparadiesscheune, there is a playground and a meadow by the lake. This gives the viewpoint a different focus from the scenic lake: here, the emphasis is on views across the vineyards, while the lake lies between the village and the vine-covered slopes. Trails with Different Focuses
The Seinsheim Tree Horoscope Trail runs alongside the scenic lake. At 19 kilometres, the Weinparadies Trail is considerably longer and runs from Nenzenheim at Tannenberg, past the Seinsheim Aussichtskanzel, to Weigenheim. It therefore extends beyond Seinsheim. When choosing between the trails, the main differences to consider are their connection to the lake on the Tree Horoscope Trail and the longer route through several villages on the Weinparadies Trail.
Another destination on the Wine with Wide Views circular trail is the Old Quarry. A 300-metre detour leads there; impressive sandstone walls dominate the site. There is a barbecue area by the shelter at Bergbrünnlein. Since the availability of facilities can change, it is advisable to check their condition before visiting.
The Gaden Church Fortress and Local History
The almost completely preserved Gaden Church Fortress comprises 17 Gaden houses with cellars dating from the 15th century. The Gaden houses have stood since that time and formed part of the former fortified church complex. The site therefore combines preserved historic buildings with the history of its former defensive function. St Peter and Paul Church also has a long history in the village: it was built between 1810 and 1814 and is the fourth church to have stood on this site.
