Trochtelfingen: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The tower of the Catholic parish church of St. Martin contains structural elements from the 12th and 15th centuries, the rectangular choir dates from the period after 1322, and the nave was built around 1450.

Culture

On the western side of Trochtelfingen stands the Pulverturm, a small preserved round tower. The Hennenstein Chapel, also known as the Hünenstein Chapel, contains frescoes that have survived only in fragments in some places; a preserved hermitage belongs to it. The Hennenstein Chapel and the hermit's cell are located near the Trochtelfingen ski lift.

The castle of the Counts of Werdenberg was probably built between 1488 and 1497. The Hohe Turm is one of the buildings that shape Trochtelfingen's townscape and can be seen behind the town wall. The museum at the Hohe Turm presents a permanent exhibition with original documents, objects, paintings, and photographs. It is generally open twice a month, from 2 to 5 p.m.; admission is free.

Landscape and Trails

The Städtles-Runde route leads outside the historic town centre past meadows and fields and through the forest. The Augstberg circular trail is an easy hike of 4.1 km lasting approximately 1.5 hours. Trochtelfingen is also located on the Albtrauf mountain bike trail.

The Lauchertsee-Hausen circular route is just over 8 km long and offers unobstructed views as far as the Swiss Alps in good weather. The Kuppenalb circular route is just under 16 km long and combines Trochtelfingen's idyllic half-timbered buildings, views from the Augstberg, and nature at Neuban. The Lauchertsee-Neuban circular route is just under 8 km long and leads across the high plateau of Mägerkingen's local mountain, which is bordered by juniper heathlands protected under nature conservation law.

Local Area

The ALB-GOLD Visitor Centre offers an informative guided tour on the production of pasta and Spätzle. Visitors can sample pasta and Spätzle there and purchase selected products directly on site. The visitor centre is a starting point for hiking and cycling tours.

There is a barbecue area and a playground at Lauchertsee. Swimming is not permitted in Lauchertsee.

Getting Around

Line 400 of the Hohenzollerische Landesbahn railway runs towards Gammertingen and Reutlingen.
