Experience local history and culture
A special venue for chamber music is the wood-panelled civic hall in the historic town hall, built in 1669. It hosts the Sipplingen Town Hall Concerts series. The Kultur Initiative Sipplingen also offers a varied programme, including music in different styles, cabaret, comedy, and theatre and film performances. Venues include the town hall cellar, Sipplingen railway station and other locations in the municipality. Culture lovers can therefore consider a range of event formats when planning their trip.
A permanent exhibition in the old railway station offers insights into the lives of the pile dwellers of the Sipplingen-Osthafen settlement. Since 2011, the Sipplingen-Osthafen pile-dwelling site has been part of the “Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps” and is one of the largest settlements on Lake Constance. Local traditions also feature in the events calendar: on Corpus Christi, an 800-metre-long carpet of flowers stretches through Sipplingen. Highlights include the climb via the geological educational trail and numerous viewpoints. The Lake Constance Cycle Path also runs directly through Sipplingen.
