High-altitude trails and sweeping views
Heiligenberg combines hiking experiences in its upland landscape with impressive views and a rich historical heritage. At 788.2 metres, Amalienhöhe is the highest point in Heiligenberg. Two panoramic trails of different lengths are available for a circular hike. Panorama Trail I runs for 13.6 kilometres through Heiligenberg’s upland landscape and offers attractive views. Panorama Trail II is also a circular route through the upland landscape. It is 6.4 kilometres long and likewise offers attractive views. You can then decide whether to focus on the longer loop or the shorter of the two routes. The stated distances make it easier to plan your day without needing to infer a walking time from them.
Castle history and routes to religious buildings
Heiligenberg Castle tells the story of a transformation that shaped its appearance: between 1560 and 1575, it was converted from a late-medieval castle into a Renaissance palace. The castle chapel is an important monument to the German Renaissance and the history of the Fürstenberg family. It has served as the family’s burial place since 1586. The Knights’ Hall offers views of Lake Constance and the Alpine range.
