Oberteuringen: Orchards, Trails and Church Art
Accommodation in Oberteuringen
Oberteuringen lies amid extensive orchards at the foot of Gehrenberg; the Rotach flows through the municipality. It is one of the four holiday destinations in the Gehrenberg-Lake Constance holiday region. Nature trails, a pilgrimage route and church art give your stay a range of focuses—from a hike through the Ried landscape to discoveries in the local districts.

Discover the Ried Landscape and Trails
Oberteuringen has more than 80 kilometres of signposted hiking and cycling trails. Some trails through the Ried pass through the “Altweiherwiesen” and “Hepbacher-Leimbacher Ried” nature reserves. The Lake Constance Trail in the Altweiherwiesen is a nature trail with information boards about the wildlife and plant life in the hiking area. If you go there, be sure to follow the applicable trail rules in the protected areas. Signposting and conditions may change; check the current route before setting off.
The stated distances and walking times can help you compare routes as you plan your day: Hiking Trail 8, the “Rotach Trail,” is 5.2 kilometres long, with a stated walking time of about two hours. The “Alpenblick Trail” and the “Teuringer Ried Trail” are each listed as 10.1 kilometres, with a walking time of about 4.5 hours. The “Teuringer Bächlespfad” covers 12.9 kilometres, with a stated walking time of about 5.5 hours. This gives you a rough idea of how much time to allow for the different hikes.
Another option is the 14-kilometre “Tour Tip through the Oberteuringen Countryside.” It runs from Oberteuringen via Unterteuringen, Hepbach, Stadel, Neuhaus, Hefigkofen, Dürnast, Reute bei Taldorf and Bibruck, before returning to Oberteuringen. The Way of St. James also reaches Oberteuringen’s municipal area at Blankenried and continues via Rammetshofen to the district of Unterteuringen. Pilgrims can have their pilgrim passports stamped and enter their names in the pilgrim book along the described Way of St. James.
Church Art and Culture
The ceiling painting in the nave of St. Martin’s parish church depicts the Nativity of Christ. It was created by Ravensburg artist Gebhard Fugel (1863–1939). The church’s stained-glass windows were designed by Ulm art professor Wilhelm Geyer (1900–1968). In Neuhaus, St. George’s Chapel offers another glimpse into local history: built in 1707 with Baroque furnishings, it houses a Late Gothic figure of the Virgin Mary from a Crucifixion group dating to around 1480. Baroque chapel furnishings and a Late Gothic figure stand side by side here.
The “Mühle” cultural centre is a meeting place for people interested in art, culture, concerts and comedy. Together with the church artworks, it offers a different perspective on Oberteuringen from the trails through the countryside. If you would like to include these themes in your holiday, you can factor them into your plans alongside hikes and cycling trips.
Activities for Different Days
Visitors to Oberteuringen can take part in guided apple tours. Check the dates in advance if you plan to include one in your itinerary. At Rotachpark, there is access to the river and an island where children can play and run around outdoors. There is also a skatepark on Jahnweg, near the sports hall; check the local operating conditions before your visit.
When looking for a holiday apartment in Oberteuringen, your preferred focus for the trip can be a useful first filter: would you like to spend time on hiking and cycling trails, follow the Way of St. James, or include church art and culture? The stated walking times help you weigh up the time needed for individual hiking days. For a guided apple tour, check the dates separately and plan accordingly.
