Rillieux-la-Pape combines active adventures at Vanciaventure leisure park, located in the former military fort of Rillieux-la-Pape in Vancia north of Lyon, with a distinctive history.
Activities
Vanciaventure offers ten high-rope courses for children and adults, with increasingly varied levels of difficulty. For children aged four and over, there is a net course for the youngest visitors as well as a treasure hunt.
The Ruisseau du Ravin hiking trail is 10 kilometres long and takes approximately 3 hours and 10 minutes.
Nature and Trails
The La Buissière nature trail is 10.7 kilometres long. It leads to the Chapelle de la Buissière and the Canal de Miribel. The Chapelle de la Buissière is an event venue with 80 seats, hosting various events and exhibitions.
Culture and History
In the Velette district, the Centre Chorégraphique National de Rillieux-la-Pape (CCNR) uses a venue specifically designed and built for its activities, offering panoramic views of the Lyon metropolitan area valley.
The Fort de Vancia was completed in 1878 and is surrounded by a one-kilometre-long moat. Guided tours of Fort de Vancia are organised as part of the Heritage Days.
Parc Brosset is home to the Mémorial de la Paix by artist Yves Henri. Parc Brosset also contains numerous remarkable trees, each identified with a name plaque.
Rillieux-la-Pape is also home to a museum of medicine.
