Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Vanosc can plan their stay around culture, nature and local events.
Culture and History
The Château de la Rivoire was built between 1728 and 1740 and embellished between 1750 and 1760. Its design was inspired both by the bastides in the Aix-en-Provence area and by the “folies” of the Île-de-France region. The château was built as a pleasure palace at the centre of an agricultural estate. It can be visited by groups from October to June with a minimum of 10 people, and by individual visitors in July and September.
A guided tour of the “Espace Joseph Besset - Musée du charronnage au car” in Vanosc takes place at two locations 900 metres apart. It traces Joseph Besset’s path from his training as a wheelwright through coachbuilding to the manufacture of coaches.
The Chapelle Saint-Nizier was rebuilt between 1830 and 1840 and was designated as a chapel for penitents from the outset. It is located at the highest point of the village of Vanosc and watches over the cemetery.
Nature and Trails
The botanical nature trail in the Pinsole valley follows a 2-kilometre route with more than 40 tree species and just as many plant species, including a magnificent sequoia. The trail is free to access and open every day all year round.
The Le Suc de la Pinée hike passes through conifer plantations and former chestnut groves and offers views of the Cance valley.
A first course has been set up in the Pinsole valley.
Events and Culinary Specialities
The Marché de Vanosc takes place in 2026 on 5 April and then on the first Sunday of every month through December; evening markets are also planned in summer. Vanosc is one of the municipalities where Caillé doux de Saint-Félicien is produced.
The jam session at Monteillet Café takes place on the first and third Thursday of every month. It is open to everyone, both to participate and to listen.
