The Promenade des fresques in Meyras features 12 scenes of everyday life in the 20th century painted by Alain Royer: 11 frescoes are located in the village, with another in the Thermes de Neyrac.

The restored Relais des Muletiers now houses exhibitions. Works of art are presented there in a contemporary interior. The relais formerly served as a resting place where muleteers stopped on their way to the Massif Central and rested their animals.

The Church of Saint Etienne has a finely decorated portal made of Vaugnérite. Its bell tower dates from the 12th century and is covered with glazed tiles in a Burgundy-inspired design.

The “Le petit musée de Dédé” presents the history of the southern Ardèche’s railway heritage – from construction and operation to closure and destruction.

Landscape

The Château de Hautsegur is located within the municipality of Meyras, overlooks the Ardèche Valley and has preserved the appearance of a powerful watchtower. The estate includes a large, typically Ardèche-style garden with predominantly terraced vineyards and a chestnut grove.

A walk to the Château de Ventadour leads to the foot of the castle after about 400 metres; from there, a 500-metre ascent is possible exclusively on foot.

The Mofette de Meyras is a carbon dioxide emission originating from cooling lava contained underground. It can be accessed as part of guided tours organised by the Sources & Volcans tourist office; depending on its schedule, these take place from June to October.

From here, it is possible to access the Souilhol volcano, where visitors can enjoy an exceptional 360-degree panorama.

At the “Le petit musée de Dédé”, a session lasts 1.5 hours. In 2026, visits take place daily by appointment, with a voluntary contribution.
