Marcols-les-Eaux: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The hike to Champ de Mars is accessible only from the end of May to October. The route follows the Sentier des Marcolais, crosses the Glueyre River, and continues to the hamlet of Mauras.
The hike to Champ de Mars passes through the valley basin at the end of the Glueyre Valley, through remarkable beech forests, and to panoramic views over the Monts d’Ardèche. From the summit of the Don volcano, there is a 360-degree view over the Parc des Monts d’Ardèche.
Geographical Setting
The mountain of Champ de Mars is in the immediate vicinity of Marcols-les-Eaux. Nearby are the mountain of Suc de Monteilles, the summit of Le Coulet Gras, the mountain of Les Plaines, and the ruins of the Monastère Saint-Michel de Charay. In the wider regional area are the historic site of Tour de Diane-de-Poitiers, the ruins of the Ancienne Chatreuse de Bonnefoy, and the ruins of the château de Mézanc.
Culture
The building housing the Source Janvier contains the source’s pumping well and a permanent exhibition about mineral waters. The exhibition “Dans le secret des bulles” in Marcols-les-Eaux presents the history of the mineral waters of the Monts d’Ardèche.
The Moulinage de la Neuve has been open to the public for guided tours since 2007. During the tours, the machines are put into operation. The Moulinage de la Neuve also preserves looms used for twisting silk thread.
