Largentière: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Largentière combines tangible evidence of history, craftsmanship, landscape and geology. At Notre-Dame des Pommiers, Romanesque capitals can be found on the pillars of the choir. Construction probably began in the final years of the 12th century and was completed around 1240–1250. The pulpit comes from the Cordeliers monastery; an inscription mentions the year 1490 in connection with its donation.

Culture

Château de Largentière cannot be visited. In the wider regional surroundings of Largentière are the ancient site “Alba-la-Romaine (Ardèche, France) -- Théâtre gallo-romain”, the ruins of Château de la Roche, the archaeological site “Site archéologique d’Alba-la-Romaine”, and the ruins of Ruins de Mailhac.

At Wabi Sabine Céramique, visitors can observe the work in the workshop, see the ceramics produced there, and attend pottery and modelling courses.

Market

The “Marché hebdomadaire” takes place year-round on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the centre of Largentière. At the market, visitors meet local craftspeople and farmers; products on offer include fruit, vegetables, cheese and cured meats.

Nature

La Cham du Cros is a mountain in the surroundings of Largentière. Serre des Blachis, Sommet de Fontfreyde and Sommet de Bournazon are also mountains in the surroundings of Largentière.

At Geosite des Fourniols, Permian rocks almost 290 million years old are visible. Geosite des Fourniols preserves millions of fossilised animal burrows known as “Scoyenia”.

Circuit n°8 “En longeant le Roubreau” begins and ends at Place de l'église in Largentière.
