Annonay: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Annonay heritage trail is 2,200 metres long and allows visitors to explore the historic town centre in around two hours. It is marked by 17 information panels at the town’s prominent historic sites and monuments.

Culture and History

The J'Peux Pas J'ai Montgolfière festival takes place every year on the first weekend in July. The Musée Vivarois César Filhol presents the traditional expertise of Annonay’s tanners and leather dressers and explores the Montgolfier brothers’ first balloon flights in the context of the conquest of the skies.

The Tour des Martyrs can be visited especially during the European Heritage Days; it is also included in the guided tours of the district organised by the tourist office.

The Domaine de Varagnes was created by Marc Seguin as a place for innovation. The estate includes a decorated greenhouse with double glazing, a chapel, laboratories, a library and an observatory; it has been protected as a historic monument since 1992. During a guided tour of the Domaine de Varagnes, visitors explore the workshops, laboratories, library, observatory and the monumental greenhouse decorated by Seguin’s children.

The Chapelle Sainte-Marie is the last surviving remnant of the Sainte-Marie convent, built in the 17th century. It was deconsecrated and converted into a dance studio in February 2018. The Chapelle Sainte-Marie is freely accessible, but can only be viewed from the outside.

The Musée du Parchemin presents the history of parchment and the craft of parchment-making and is one of the few museums dedicated to parchment. From a glazed gallery above the parchment workshop, visitors can watch parchment being made. The Parcheminerie Dumas is one of the last three parchment workshops in France.

Cycling Route

The starting area of this section of the Via Fluvia in Annonay is located at Annonay bus station, in the direction of Super U. On the section of the Via Fluvia from the Les Bénévis car park in Burdignes to Annonay, paved greenways and cycle routes alternate.
