Valgorge: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Valgorge has been part of the Parc naturel régional des Monts d’Ardèche since 2001. Valgorge and its massif are also located within a Natura 2000 site and at the centre of an espace naturel sensible (ENS).

The Beaume River runs alongside the village. The Haute Beaume and the Drobie belong to the network of rivers recognised in France and Europe as “Rivières Sauvages”.

Nature

The Sentier des Ferjasses runs along the ridge of the Tanargue plateau.

Paths and activities

A hiking guide is available from the Office de tourisme Cévennes d’Ardèche in Valgorge. The Sentier des Gardes is a circular trail lasting 6 to 7 hours and starts at the Relais de Pays on Place de l’Eyre in Valgorge.

The Tour de Valgorge allows visitors to discover the valley’s natural treasures and its farming heritage. The Coucoulude climbing site in Valgorge has 27 routes on granite cliffs and, according to the site description, is suitable for beginners and families.

The permanent Kilomètre Vertical de Valgorge is a marked and secured trail with 1,000 m of continuous positive elevation gain. The trail starts and ends at the Salle de la Pourette in Valgorge.

The Trail Bleu Beaume Drobie is 20.3 km long, has approximately 897 m of ascent and descent, and reaches a maximum altitude of around 1,216 m. It runs along a ridge above the Drobie Valley and offers views of the Beaume Valley and the Massif de Prataubérat.

Local life and culture

La Ferme au Château-Chastanet in Chastanet, Valgorge, offers free visits and direct farm sales. La Ferme au Château-Chastanet produces a wide variety of cheeses from sheep’s and goat’s milk and processes chestnuts into chestnut cream, chestnut flour, syrup and natural chestnuts.

The Church of Saint-Martin is located in Valgorge.
