Bonnes: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Château de Touffou is located on the left bank of the Vienne. At the entrance to Bonnes, the municipal arboretum lies between the road to Touffou and the banks of the Vienne.

Culture and History

The Église Saint-André has preserved almost all of its Romanesque structure. The façade, nave, tower bay and apse date from the 12th century. The church is classified as a Monument historique; this protection was established by a decree dated 11 August 1906.

Romanesque and Gothic elements can be seen in the keep of Château de Touffou. The Tour Saint-Jean and the west wing contain Renaissance elements. Parts of Château de Touffou are both classified as a Monument historique and listed as a Monument historique; the protection is partial.

The Jardin du château de Touffou is included on the list published on 31 March 2018 as a “Jardin remarquable”.

Nature and Landscape

The municipal arboretum showcases 15 native tree species and around 50 notable tree species. Each tree is accompanied by an information sign.

In the Plateau de Bellefonds Natura 2000 site, to which Bonnes belongs, fields and meadows alternate with wooded areas, low hedges, ponds, wet hollows and remnants of heathland. This combination gives the area a particular biological and avian diversity.

The 2012 ornithological inventory for the Plateau de Bellefonds Natura 2000 site recorded a total of 133 bird species, including 23 species of Community interest listed in Annex I.

Hiking and Cycling

The “Touffou, entre terre et Vienne” route is 17 kilometres long, easy, and takes around two hours by mountain bike or three and a half hours on foot. It passes through the Beaujean valley, the Les Saunières forest and the Les Douces forest, then reaches a plateau with a variety of arable farming and livestock breeding before continuing to the Vienne. Behind Château de Touffou, the route runs alongside the château and offers the opportunity to discover the arboretum as a biodiversity area.

The “La Vallée de Sanzelle” route follows shaded paths and leads to several hamlets with restored houses that have preserved their authenticity. Bonnes also offers four hiking trails with an average duration of around three hours; this time also includes breaks and sightseeing stops.

A car-sharing station available to all users is located in Bonnes in the car park at the Esplanade des fêtes.
