Nature and Coast
Jard-sur-Mer has a coastline that alternates between sandy beaches and rocky areas between Boisvinet and Plage de la Mine. The rocky sections are used for wading fishing. The wooded coastal zone covers 350 hectares and has been protected from intensive urban development. The area around the Payré estuary behind the Veillon Dune has been part of the Natura 2000 programme since 2009 because of its diverse habitats and remarkable species.
A walking trail at Pointe du Payré begins at the car park of Plage de la Mine, runs through the forest and offers views of the ocean and the Payré estuary.
Active Holidays
Surfing, windsurfing and stand-up paddleboarding are available on the coast of Jard-sur-Mer. The 28.5-kilometre cycling loop “Ça roule avec Richard Cœur de Lion” runs between Talmont-Saint-Hilaire and Jard-sur-Mer. Nine information panels at strategic points provide information about Richard the Lionheart and his era.

The Sainte-Radegonde Church in Jard-sur-Mer is a Romanesque church dating from the 11th century. In July and August, guided tours are offered there on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The foundation stone of the Chapelle Sainte-Anne in Jard-sur-Mer was laid in 1650. A small 17th-century wooden boat hangs in the chapel as a votive offering.
The fully renovated Moulin de Conchette windmill in Jard-sur-Mer was built at the end of the 19th century. The landscaped walking paths offer a view of the ocean.
Local Life
The seasonal “Mercredis Gourmands” market brings local food producers to the pedestrian zone of Rue de l’Océan on Wednesdays in July and August.
