Culture and History
The Prieuré de Grammont was founded around 1197 by Richard the Lionheart and is one of the best-preserved Grandmontine foundations in France. At the Prieuré de Grammont, visitors can immerse themselves in the site's past with the help of a virtual reconstruction.
The Église Saint Mathurin was built between 1852 and 1857. In 1807, Napoleon handed the former church of Saint-Prouant over to the Protestants. The Protestant temple of Saint-Prouant is a former Catholic church dating from the 11th century.
Hiking and Trails
Saint-Prouant offers seven signposted hiking trails. Five hiking trails in Saint-Prouant start at the Place du Chétis Patis, while two start at the Prieuré de Grammont. The Sentiers de Grammont and des Grands Montains also start at the Prieuré de Grammont.
The Sentier du Bois passes by the Étang de la Bourroche and allows visitors to discover the Bois de la Pélissonnière. The Sentier Les Barres is accessible to everyone.

The Forêt de la Pelissonnière extends across Rochetrejoux, Saint-Prouant and Le Boupère and is designated as a ZNIEFF.
Cycling
The Boucle du Prieuré is a signposted Vendée Vélo cycling loop starting from the de la Pousse Vieille car park in Saint-Prouant and measuring 11.5 km. The Boucle du Prieuré offers a viewpoint overlooking the Forêt de la Pelissonnière.
