Culture and History
The Church of Saint-Pierre in Louresse dates from the early 13th century and is dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul.
It preserves a Romanesque portal with a buttress dating from the 13th century; its choir and nave also date from the 13th century.
The church in Rochemenier has a Romanesque façade supported by two buttresses, a Renaissance-style portal and a rounded bell structure with a double bretèche.
It is thought to date from the 14th century. Originally, it was a chapel dedicated to Sainte Emerance, documented from 1313 onwards.
The historic built heritage also includes the Moulin Gouré, a cave windmill typical of Anjou. It was built by Mathurin Gouré in 1590.
The Moulin Gouré is partly underground, making it a semi-troglodytic cave windmill, because its mill room lies partly below ground. It can be visited.
La Pierre Couverte de Corbeau is an Angevin-type dolmen and a collective stone tomb from the Neolithic period, between 6000 and 2200 BC.
The dolmen contains slabs of falun; their deposits are located at least three kilometres away.
The Polissoir de la Bournée is a Neolithic sandstone block used to sharpen and polish stone tools. Two worn parallel grooves bear witness to repeated polishing.
Those who choose Louresse-Rochemenier as a travel destination want to rent a holiday apartment.
Nature
The Parc Raimbault-Courjaret covers approximately one hectare and is considered a protected biodiversity reserve with a variety of plant species and spontaneous vegetation.
The Parc Raimbault-Courjaret has benches and tables where visitors can rest and eat in the shade of mature trees.
Visiting and Hiking
The visitor route at the Musée troglodytique de Rochemenier is approximately 95 percent accessible; the underground chapel is not accessible.
The hiking stage of the GR® de Pays Coteaux du Layon et de la Loire begins at 12 rue du Musée in Louresse-Rochemenier. It is 11 kilometres long and rated as very easy.
