Saint-Georges-Sur-Loire: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The former abbey of Saint-Georges-sur-Loire was founded in the mid-12th century by the Augustinian canons of La Roë. Its 12th-century refectory has retained its original volume and roof structure; traces of 12th- and 13th-century wall paintings have also been preserved there. The former abbey is protected in part as a classified historic monument and in part as a registered historic monument.
Culture
The parish church of Saint-Georges was built as part of a construction campaign in 1829; Binet is named as the architect. It was registered as a historic monument on 18 April 1991.
The Château de Serrant has been classified as a historic monument since 1948. Its collection includes 20,000 books, which were also classified as historic monuments in 2001. The Château de Serrant is open from mid-February to mid-November.
