Nozay: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Pierre Bleue de Nozay is a bluish slate that was subjected to less pressure than ordinary slate and consequently has a softer grain. Nozay is also home to the Menhir de Couëbrac in the Lande de l'Etang Neuf.

Culture and history

The Sentier des manoirs conveys the history of slate, a type of rock characteristic of the region that has shaped the landscape around Nozay. The Carrière du Parc is a former Pierre Bleue quarry and can be visited free of charge from Friday to Sunday.

The Les Croix de Nozay circular trail has 25 information panels at particularly interesting crosses. Of the 43 crosses in Nozay that still exist, 40 were restored by José Teffo in 2019.

The wider regional area around Nozay is home to several historical and architectural attractions: Grand-Fougeray Tower is a historical site, Abbaye Notre-Dame de Melleray is a monastery, Château de la Bretonnière is a château, and Camp de Choisel is a historical site.

Activities

La Ville-au-Chef has around twenty freely accessible orienteering posts. It also features a permanent mountain bike course and a natural slate climbing wall.

The Jean Guyon leisure complex offers wakeboarding, water skiing and kneeboarding. It also includes three fishing ponds that provide a natural setting for a relaxing break.

There are two natural arches in the area around Nozay: the Arcades du Gué de la Roche and the Arcades du Mesnil.
