The Château d’Ancenis is a castle of the Marches de Bretagne and has been classified as a “Monument historique” since 1977. The semi-permanent exhibition “Château d’Ancenis – Regards croisés” is displayed in the Renaissance residence of the Château d’Ancenis.

“Déam’bulles” is a project dedicated to the heritage of Ancenis-Saint-Géréon, featuring 26 emblematic sites that are significant to the history of the municipality.

Nature and trails

Along the banks of the Loire in Ancenis-Saint-Géréon, there are quays and landscaped paths for walking. In the middle of the Loire lies Île Mouchet, a Natura 2000 nature area. The island has a 3.1-kilometre circular route with marked paths; information boards describe its fauna and flora.

The orienteering course on Île Mouchet takes between 1.5 and 3 hours and is at risk of flooding.

A footpath to the Marais de Grée starts at the Maison du marais. The ornithological observatory at the Marais de Grée offers panoramic views of meadows that are dry in summer and extensive stretches of water in winter. Various birds and plants can be observed in the Marais de Grée.

Getting around and on site

The Loire à Vélo loop from Loireauxence to Ancenis-Saint-Géréon runs along the Loire; from Ancenis-Saint-Géréon, it continues towards Loireauxence.

The Thursday morning market under the Vinaigriers market hall and on Place Saint-Pierre has existed for more than 500 years.
