In Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire, the Sentier des 6 pèlerins runs through the town as a hiking trail; it is described in Rabelais’ Gargantua. A Rando’clim trail was created on Île Pinette in cooperation with Ecopôle and the regional and departmental branch of the Fédération française régionale et départementale de randonnée. Nature

The Rando’clim trail comprises 14 observation stations over 600 metres, where seven tree species can be observed. The Bois des Gripôts is a 31-hectare protected natural area in Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire. There are several walking paths, jogging trails and routes suitable for mountain biking.

Hydro-ecological restoration reopened the secondary channel of the Boireau in 2017 and promoted biodiversity, fish spawning grounds and aquatic fauna.

Culture and History

La Pyramide is an unusual monument on the Strée, built in 1682. The vineyard landscape, which recalls the district of Portereau’s former wine-growing tradition, is celebrated every year with the arrival of the new wine.

The audio tour Les Pas Enchantés offers an audio and visual portrait of the boulevard running along the banks of the Loire. The building of the Gare du petit Anjou was preserved and converted into an exhibition venue.

Event

Chloroph’îles is organised by the town of Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire, takes place every year on Île Forget and welcomes several thousand visitors. Around 40 exhibitors sell a wide selection of plants and offer gardening advice. The event also showcases the “Ville nature” initiatives supported by the town, its residents and its partners.
