The Marais de l’île is a 52-hectare wetland crossed by the Ognon River and located in the immediate vicinity of the town centre of Pont-Saint-Martin. Parts of the Marais de l’île lie within Natura 2000 perimeters, classified protected-area perimeters and Ramsar protection perimeters.
On the northern bank of the Ognon, the Marais de l’île has an observation point where numerous birds can be observed. The Prés Moreau site also has an educational trail suitable for families.

Culture and History
The Château de la Rairie in Pont-Saint-Martin has been protected as a historic monument since 23 January 1989. The new Saint-Martin Church was built from 1844 to 1860 and consecrated in 1862. The Château du Plessis is partially protected as a historic monument.

The Ognon cycle route is a circular cycling route from Parc de la Filée to the Marais de l’île. The chain ferry crosses the Ognon using muscle power; bicycles can be taken on board. The Quai des Romains circular route follows the Ognon River and leads visitors to discover the heritage and history of the municipality of Pont-Saint-Martin.
Surroundings
The historic site of Abbaye de Villeneuve is located in the vicinity of Pont-Saint-Martin. The museums Musée Jules-Verne, Machines de l’île and Musée de l’imprimerie are also located in the vicinity of Pont-Saint-Martin.
The islands of Île Beaulieu and Île Pivin are also located nearby. Other destinations in the surrounding area include Parc du Crapa and the Jardin des Plantes botanical garden.
