Mouzillon: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Mouzillon encompasses vineyard-covered slopes.
When planning a trip, the desire to rent a holiday apartment in Mouzillon may be the main consideration.
Nature
As it flows through the Nantais wine-growing region, the Sanguèze passes through Mouzillon and joins the Sèvre Nantaise at Le Pallet. Along the Sanguèze, there is a natural, peaceful and green landscape; the river is also suitable for fishing. The “Boucle Circuit Gallo-Romain” circular trail passes through vineyards and hamlets, follows a wooded section along the Sanguèze and offers vineyard panoramas, particularly at the Moulin Buzard. It also passes through the neighboring municipality of Vallet.
Wine
Mouzillon’s wine-growing identity includes Muscadet, a local wine offered for tasting there. The Domaine de la Grange Hardy welcomes individuals and groups for themed food-and-wine experiences in Mouzillon. The Domaine de la Grange Hardy also provides an explanation of the Nantais wine-growing region, as well as the estate’s cultivation methods and winemaking process. Themed tastings pair wines with regional products. “P’tit Mouzillon” and “Muscadet sur Lie” are also associated with Mouzillon.
Culture
In Mouzillon, the Eglise Saint-Martin de Vertou church houses the 1920 painting “L'hommage aux morts de la paroisse de Mouzillon” by the internationally renowned Nantes-born surrealist painter Pierre Roy. The “Raconte-moi Mouzillon” association promotes the local heritage through activities, discoveries, events and publications. Mouzillon is also home to the medieval Fontaine Saint-Julien.
The Pont Gallo romain was fully restored in 2018 and now provides a secure pedestrian crossing; individual unguided visits are free of charge. It has four arches of unequal size, and each of its piers is flanked by a projecting spur. Today, the Pont Gallo romain is considered more likely to be an early medieval bridge than a Roman-era bridge.
Events
The “Une Nuit en Muscadet” music festival takes place annually, is based on products from the Vignoble Nantais and has been organized in Mouzillon since 2012.
The 11th edition is scheduled to take place from October 2 to 3, 2026, at the Complexe de La Prée in Mouzillon; eight music groups, local Crus, winemakers and on-site catering have been announced.
