The first Saint-Pierre church in Port-Saint-Père was founded in the 7th century by the apostle of Bas-Poitou, Saint-Martin de Vertou. The present Saint-Pierre church is Neo-Gothic and preserves furnishings from the former church, including an 18th-century altar and a baptismal font.
