Clarbec is defined by the Église Saint-André, which was largely built in the 14th century. The pointed-arch portal dates from the 14th century. The nave consists of three bays with a panelled barrel vault, and the church still has a half-timbered porch. The base of the bell tower is also thought to date from the 14th century.

In April 2023, the Église Saint-André was closed by municipal order for safety reasons; extensive restoration work was also required. Anyone who has chosen Clarbec as a travel destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment.

Culture and history

Clarbec is home to the grave of the married couple Coquet de Genneville, Élie Amand Honoré Magloire and Catherine Eugénie, née Bloche. The two grave monuments are symbolically connected by two bronze arms.

The Lavoir de Clarbec is a hall-type washhouse. It was built in the 1920s and restored in 2021. The lavoir is located at the starting point of a hiking trail and can be reached on foot, by bicycle or by car; parking is available nearby.

Nature

Numerous springs and streams cross the municipality of Clarbec. The Fontaine aux Herbes organic farm grows medicinal plants on more than four hectares and offers a farm and visitor experience in Clarbec centred around aromatic and medicinal plants. The gardens of Fontaine aux Herbes are open for visits from April to September by reservation.

The workshops at Fontaine aux Herbes combine theory about herbalism and botany with the gathering and tasting of herbal teas. At the Fontaine Saint-Laurent, Saint Lawrence is invoked for burns and shingles.

Water and paths

The Lavoir de Clarbec is fed by the Ruisseau du pont de Drubec; the water is then channelled into the Yvie via a gutter.
