Culture

The almost square building has a tower at each corner. In the courtyard, one side features five round-arched arcades, while the opposite side has a round-arched portal with a coat of arms in the gable field.

The present-day Église de Saint-Jean-le-Froid was built at the beginning of the 15th century on the site of an earlier church. It is protected as a historic monument; it was listed by decree of 17 February 1928. The church also contains three remarkable sandstone Calvaries.

The entrance door of the Église Saint-Eloi dates from 1617, and the nave is spanned by a Gothic rib vault. The Saint-Eloi washhouse at the foot of the village of Mailhoc has been restored.

Nature

The Chemin de découverte de Fourogue begins at the car park by the dam in Mailhoc. The easy route is 3.7 km long and follows a circular path around the lake. The Fourogue reservoir is part of an area classified as an Espace Naturel Sensible, home to numerous birds, wetlands and protected species.

In the vicinity of Mailhoc are the Musée Toulouse-Lautrec as a museum, the Église Sainte-Madeleine, the Cathédrale Sainte-Cécile and the Collégiale Saint-Salvy as churches, as well as the Jardins du Palais de la Berbie and the Jardin National as gardens. The Parc de Rochegude, a park, is also located nearby.
