Sousceyrac: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The former feudal town of Sousceyrac was surrounded by fortified walls and a wide moat. Anyone considering Sousceyrac as a holiday destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment there.

History and culture

Access to the historic town was through the two fortified gates, Notre-Dame and Saint-Antoine. Houses from the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries can still be seen today in Rue du Carreyrat.

Sousceyrac’s rich and diverse cultural heritage includes Saint Martin’s Church. The significant building of the Ursuline convent is also part of the cultural heritage.

Circular trails

The Lac des Pescofis circular trail is 3.1 kilometres long and includes a treasure hunt lasting around 1.5 hours. The Lac Sauvage circular trail is 3.3 kilometres long and is designed as a guided hike lasting around 1.5 hours.

The Arboretum du Quercy au Monde offers four themed circular walks, each lasting around 1.5 hours. The Le Cayla circular trail starts in Sousceyrac and is 9 kilometres long.

Nature and landscape

The Arboretum du Quercy au Monde is a public landscaped park with several dozen tree species from all five continents.

The Les Jardins du Ségala circular trail passes through a preserved landscape and follows a beautiful winding descent to the Cayla stream. The Les Hauts de Sousceyrac trail passes streams, undergrowth and remote hamlets.

Cycling trails

Les Jardins du Ségala is a 25-kilometre mountain-bike circular trail starting in Sousceyrac-en-Quercy. The Les Hauts de Sousceyrac circular trail can also be ridden by mountain bike.

Cuisine

The restaurant Au Déjeuner de Sousceyrac gave its name to Pierre Benoit’s book Le déjeuner de Sousceyrac, published in 1931. At the Au Déjeuner de Sousceyrac restaurant, Patrick Lagnès prepares local produce with passion.
