Culture

In Meyronne’s former fortified medieval centre, remains of the castle and fortifications have been incorporated into various buildings in the village. In the upper part of Rocher Sainte-Marie, there is a cave containing an oratory dedicated to the Vierge du Rocher, whose origins are attributed to the early Middle Ages.

The Église de Meyronne was built in 1881 within the former enclosure of the bishop’s castle. It is listed as a historic monument, partly because of its episcopal chapel with an elegant vault and five capitals decorated with scenes depicting people, animals and foliage motifs.
