Albas: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Albas lies on the left bank of the Lot. From a rocky promontory, the village overlooks the Lot and the famous Cahors wine-growing region. Those who have chosen Albas as their destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment there.

Culture

In the Middle Ages, Albas was a fortified citadel, of which numerous architectural remains have survived. The Porte du Pal was one of the most important entrances to the fortified town of Albas. Albas Castle stands 50 metres above the Lot and, together with the Church of Saint-Etienne, houses the town hall.

The Maison du Pal is a restored 13th-century building that has been converted into an interpretation centre about the history of Albas. The Jardin Toscan lies below the former bishop's palace; from there, visitors can overlook the river. The Jardin Toscan also hosts concerts and conferences.

Water

On the banks of the Lot in Albas, a pontoon at the foot of the citadel allows canoes and boats for fishing or leisure use to be launched. Along the banks of the Lot in Albas, there are picnic spots beneath the poplar trees.

The Copeyre base in Albas offers canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding on the Lot at the Place des Gabariers.

The 1.5-hour tasting tour at Château Eugénie includes, after the cellar tour, three IGP Côtes du Lot wines and four AOP Cahors wines, as well as toast with pâté and walnuts from the estate's own production.
