Souillac: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Souillac can be explored along short and longer routes, through sacred architecture, contemporary art and along the Dordogne. Those visiting Souillac may wish to rent a holiday apartment.

Culture

The Sainte-Marie Abbey Church is a 12th-century church with Byzantine-style domes. It also has a listed organ dating from 1845. The foundation of the Sainte-Marie priory or deanery in Souillac is said to date back to 909.

The Saint-Martin Belfry was placed under protection by a decree dated 22 April 1925. Since 2017, its nave has hosted an exhibition of contemporary art every autumn in October and November as part of the “Résurgence” festival.

Routes and the Dordogne

The Circuit découverte de Souillac is a circular route of more than 6 kilometres starting from the Plaine des Jeux. It takes approximately 3 hours and is suitable for families and pushchairs.

The Circuit des Viaducs runs along the outskirts of Souillac as a 12.5-kilometre circular route lasting approximately three and a half hours. From the Copeyre base, visitors can also go canoeing on the Dordogne from Souillac.

The 24-kilometre Cazoulès–Sarlat Greenway is accessible via Souillac and connects Sarlat with Cazoulès; Cazoulès is 3 kilometres from Souillac.

The Chemin d’Amadour ends its section in the Lot with the Souillac–Rocamadour stage. This stage is approximately 25 kilometres long and can be walked in one day or, at a slower pace, spread over two days.

Experiences

Quercyland is a water park in Souillac with five swimming pools, water slides, a high ropes course and inflatable games.

On the “Les Mystères de la Ville” tour, the character Petit Pierre, a young boatman, accompanies visitors on an approximately 1.5-hour exploration of life on the Dordogne, life in Souillac and the professions found there. The tour is suitable for children aged 6 and over.

The 2026 Souillac programme included the 22nd Rando Jazz at Place Betz on Sunday, 19 July, at 9 a.m. in the Dordogne Valley, with music by Jazz Olt.

Market and crafts

Souillac’s traditional market and fair take place every Friday morning from 8 a.m. to 12 noon in the old town centre.

The Maison Louis Roque museum offers a free, self-guided tour covering the history of the establishment and its traditional craftsmanship. Vieille Prune is the speciality of Maison Louis Roque. Maison Louis Roque in Souillac has maintained its craftsmanship since 1905.
