Anglars: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Culture
The Church of Saint Martin in Anglars brings together several historical traces. Its partial designation as a listed monument applies to the bell tower; it was classified on 3 February 1930. The bell tower of the Church of Saint Martin and Saint Roch in Anglars has been classified as a historic monument since the same date. The Church of Saint Martin dates back to a Benedictine priory documented since the 10th century and preserves a remarkable Romanesque bell tower. The nave features painted faux ashlar, signed and dated “Galtié J. 1954”.
The townscape also includes historic houses. A 17th-century house is distinguished by carved mullioned windows, including a remarkable corner window. It preserves original iron-fitted woodwork; two carved Renaissance-style heads are visible on its rear side. A medieval house in Anglars preserves traces of arches and small openings with carved faces.
In the vicinity of Anglars is the Château d'Assier, which is considered a palace. Nearby is La Grâce-Dieu, which is considered a historic site. The Abbaye de Lissac, also considered a historic site, is likewise located in the surrounding area.
