The PR 5 – Le chemin de Sant-Pere de Cedret is an easy 4.5 km circular hiking trail in Latour-de-Carol and starts at the town hall square of Latour-de-Carol. The Carol, also known as the Aravo, runs through Latour-de-Carol. There is a picnic area along the banks of the Carol.

History

The arrival of the Train Jaune in 1927 and the Transpyrénéen in 1929 made it possible to establish the international railway station of Latour-de-Carol. In the 18th and 19th centuries, Latour-de-Carol was an active trading centre for livestock and textiles.

Culture

The Saint-Fructueux d'Iravals church dates from the 11th century, represents the early Romanesque style, preserves high-quality Romanesque furnishings and is protected as a historic monument.

The Canal de Puigcerdá, also known as La Sequia, runs through Latour-de-Carol. The Saint-Etienne church contains a remarkable collection of Baroque altarpieces, including works by Joseph Sunyer from 1715.

The rock “Rocher gravé dit Latour 2” in Coma d'Ayrevals comprises 61 engraved panels and 714 recorded drawings.
