Nature
The peaks Roc dels Trepassants, Puig de la Segalissa, Roc dels Cimbells and Pic de Tres Estelles are located in the vicinity of Nyer. The Tour des Réserves Naturelles GR®P is a 68.4-kilometre circular route.
The Maison de la Réserve offers the free interactive exhibition „Un Monde renversant“ about bats, as well as themed excursions for children and adults. The adapted educational services include large-print materials, Braille, an induction loop and an MP3 player.
Culture
The Château de Nyer, a Renaissance castle, stands in the heart of the village. It was the residence of the ruling family and not a defensive castle. The fabric of the nave and apse of the Église Saint-Jacques dates from the 11th century.
The medieval Château de la Roca can be reached via a hiking trail and has been protected as a Monument historique since 1965. The Chapelle Notre-Dame de la Roca can be reached via a landscaped forest path on the slope in the Gorges de Nyer.
The Abbaye Saint-Martin du Canigou and the Abbaye de Saint-Michel de Cuxa are located in the vicinity of Nyer. In the wider regional area are the Pedra Dreta archaeological site and the ruins of the Abbaye de Jau.
